Arcade Run

Privacy Policy

Last updated October 24, 2026

Arcade Run is an iPhone app and a website (arcaderun.app) operated by Eli Riedel, based in the United States (full address under "Contact" below) ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and your choices.

The short version. The camera is used live, on your phone, to see your body's position so you can control the games. Video is never sent anywhere, and it's only saved if you tap REC to record a clip for yourself. There's no account. Your profile, workout history and settings stay on your phone, with a backup in your own iCloud that only you can access. We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data (for example "onboarding finished" or "played Rail Run for 4 minutes") under a random ID that isn't linked to you, and you can turn it off in Settings. We don't sell data, we don't show ads in the app, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

The camera

When you play with the camera, Arcade Run uses Apple's on-device Vision framework to estimate the position of your body's joints (head, shoulders, hips, knees and so on) many times a second. Those positions are turned into game controls (jump, duck, step left or right, run in place, reach) and then discarded. Camera frames and joint positions never leave your phone, aren't saved (unless you choose to record a clip with REC, which iOS saves to your phone for you), and are not used to identify you. We don't use face recognition and don't build any body or biometric profile.

The camera only runs while a camera game, calibration or tutorial is on screen. You can turn camera access off at any time in iOS Settings › Arcade Run and still play using touch controls.

What stays on your phone

This data is stored in the app's storage on your device. If iCloud is on for your Apple Account, a copy is also kept in your private iCloud storage (Apple's iCloud key-value storage for this app) so your history and best scores come back if you reinstall or move to a new phone. It's stored under your Apple Account by Apple; we can't see it and it never reaches our servers. "Reset all data" in Settings erases it from your phone and from iCloud. Deleting the app removes the copy on your phone.

What we collect

Anonymous usage data (optional)

If "Share anonymous usage data" is on (it's on by default, and you can switch it off in Profile › Settings), the app sends us short event records such as: the app was opened, an onboarding step was viewed, the paywall was shown, a purchase was started or completed, a game was opened, a workout finished (game, length, score, whether the camera was used), a clip was recorded. Each event includes a random install ID generated by the app, the app version and the iOS version. The install ID isn't your name, email, Apple ID or device advertising identifier, and isn't linked to your identity. We use these events only to understand which features and games work and to fix problems. They're stored by us (Supabase) and by our analytics provider (PostHog), which is set to discard IP addresses.

Crash and error reports

If the app crashes or hits an error (for example, a purchase that fails), it sends a technical report to our error-monitoring provider (Sentry): what went wrong in the code, the app and iOS versions, the device model and basic app state such as free memory. Reports don't include your name, email, IP address, Apple ID, screenshots or anything from the camera. We use them only to find and fix bugs.

Feedback you send

If you use "Send feedback" in the app, we receive your message, the optional email address you enter (so we can reply), the app version and the random install ID. If you email us, we receive your email and what you write.

Purchases

Subscriptions are sold and billed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment details; we never see your card number or Apple ID. The app checks with Apple whether your subscription is active. Our subscription-analytics provider (RevenueCat) receives the App Store transaction records for your subscription (product, price, dates, trial and renewal status) under a random ID, so we can see how subscriptions are doing; it never gets your payment details. Apple may also share limited, anonymized sales reports with us.

Website

arcaderun.app is a static website. It doesn't use cookies, analytics or advertising pixels. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security and reliability.

How long we keep it

Anonymous usage events are kept for up to 24 months, then deleted or aggregated. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days. Subscription records are kept while you're a subscriber and as long as we need them for accounting and tax. Feedback and support emails are kept as long as needed to help you and for up to 24 months afterwards. On-device and iCloud data stays until you reset it (or delete the app and, for the iCloud copy, remove it in iOS Settings › your name › iCloud).

Your choices and rights

If you're in the EU/EEA or UK, our legal bases are legitimate interests (understanding and improving the app, using anonymous data you can switch off), performance of a contract (providing a subscription you bought) and consent where we ask for it. You may complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

Arcade Run is meant for a general audience and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. Kids playing should be supervised by an adult, who should set up the play space and follow the safety tips. If you believe a child has sent us personal information (for example in a feedback message), email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

Security

Data we receive is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored with a provider that encrypts data at rest. Our database only accepts new anonymous events and feedback from the app; the app can't read anyone's data back.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
